BIOGRAPHY

Dion Castro has spent the better part of the past two decades honing his craft as a musician. Starting at age 5, he quickly learned piano, guitar and drums and started serving in church worship teams by age 11. Around the same time, he performed in local youth theatre productions where he fell in love with storytelling as a whole. Once he discovered musical theatre, he learned he could merge his passion for music and storytelling through the medium of musical theatre. Every project he worked on told a story or followed a narrative that took the listener on a journey, whether it was a worship setlist or a musical theatre performance.

Dion began music directing in 2016 with Spiritual Twist Productions in Garner, NC, where he served as a music director/accompanist. He then worked closely with Solace Theatre music and band directing for their original musicals Fractured and Valkyrie. In 2018, he helped co-found Ceramic Goose Productions, and was a composing aid and music director for productions like The Three Musketeers and Treasure Island. In 2020, He moved to Pennsylvania to intentionally study musical theatre performance with Sight and Sound Conservatory in Lancaster, PA, where he not only studied performance, but was able to create vocal arrangements and assist in vocal directing for several Conservatory performances. Graduating in 2022, he then performed locally in Lancaster before being cast in Sight and Sound Theatres production of Queen Esther in Branson, MO, where he currently resides.

Dion has a passion for helping performers and storytellers reach their fullest potential with their craft, whether it's taking music from a rough draft to a full arrangement for the stage, or helping actors/singers feel confident in their material for an audition.
